Story of Why
When I was eight years old, my cousin was diagnosed with cancer. At the time, I knew this meant that he was sick, but that was about it. I didn’t know how severe it was, and that it would quickly take over his life. As I learned more about what he was going through, I wanted to help. I wanted to do something.
This experience changed my dad’s life as well. He came up with an idea to teach karate to kids with cancer and kids related to somebody with cancer. I participated in these classes, and it was a great experience for me as I was able to help children during a most difficult time.
Seeing my cousin fight and beat cancer along with my desire to help kids has led me to this idea: a tutoring program that specifically aims to help kids with cancer, recovering from cancer, or related to someone with cancer.
